Elin Jones secures Assembly group majority support

Plaid Cymru leadership candidate Elin Jones has welcomed the endorsement of Carmarthen East & Dinefwr AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas for her leadership campaign.
Rhodri Glyn Thomas is the latest member of the Plaid Cymru Assembly Group to declare his support for Elin, which now means that a clear majority of her fellow Plaid Cymru AMs are backing her to become the party’s next leader.
Ms Jones said: "Since Rhodri Glyn Thomas has confirmed his support for leadership campaign, I am now delighted to have the received the support of a majority of my fellow AMs in Plaid Cymru’s Assembly Group.
"I have always said that I want to bring the party together under my leadership and move forward into our new era with confidence. Receiving the support to achieve this from the majority of my fellow Plaid Cymru AMs is therefore very welcome.
"However, I have always believed that the new leader also needs to gain the trust and support of grassroots members, and I look forward to explaining my vision for Plaid Cymru and Wales to as many of them as possible during the final few weeks of the leadership campaign".
