Oil spill on New Quay beach

9:42am Wednesday 22nd February 2012

Environment Agency Wales officers are investigating a suspected oil spill on New Quay Beach, Ceredigion.

Officers responded following a report from Ceredigion County Council of a sheen of oil and strong smell of oil on the beach.

Officers have found there is no threat of harm to the environment from the oil and it is expected to disperse naturally. However, the Agency is monitoring the situation closely to see if further action needs to be taken to remove the oil.
